Is Movie Folder Necessary?

Just added a new 4TB external HDD. T3 recognised it fine but I formatted anyway. I noticed there's no "Movie" folder this time. Isn't it required?
I tried an instant recording to ensure it worked OK which it did. I thought it might create the Movie folder then, but it didn't. It saved to /media/hdd/
I tried a timer entry and it also shows location as /media/hdd/
Default movie location is /media/hdd/movie/
Timer recording location and Instant recording location are both <Default movie location>

I have a "TV" folder just for TV recordings. I use the "Movie" folder, well, for movies. Doesn't confuse the wife then.

Even though it didn't create a Movie folder when I tried it yesterday, it did create the folder itself last night

I think it creates the recording folder(s) as needed when you make a recording to them.

That's what I thought, yet it didn't when I first tried
