Unable to switch to non public Bcast channel (5)
Unable to switch to non public Bcast channel (5)
We have a distributed aerial system in a village.
We have an inhouse TV channel (LCN 5, physical ch 38) that is injected into this system.
The T3 will not display it in the EPG list (Ice or FTA). Nor can I switch channels to it by channel #
All other devices that I have that are using this aerial system show the ch in the EPG (albeit there is no Info),
And I can switch to it by LCN 5 using the remote as well.
The other devices I use are DPLite, P2, Windoze 8 Media Centre. Panasonic TV
When I do a full scan of the spectrum, the Channel shows up with its appropriate name in the list.
So it has been identified by the T3
F/W version is 2014-09-0416.
I think that this is a bug?

Re: Unable to switch to non public Bcast channel (5)
Do a full scan, then attach the resulting lamedb and lcndb files.
Re: Unable to switch to non public Bcast channel (5)
Not sure if this helps, but I can show what the Windoze box shows when scanning the freq.peteru wrote:Do a full scan, then attach the resulting lamedb and lcndb files.
Might take me a bit of battering to find and produce those files that you request.

Now that I have figured out how to log onto the box with my browser. Where do I find those files?

No, not at all. It tells me nothing about what the T3 is doing.grampus wrote:Not sure if this helps [Windoze box]

Re: Unable to switch to non public Bcast channel (5)
The T3 scans and finds the local service as "THE VILLAGE". There appears to be no LCN associated with the service, but your lcndb is a bit of a mess. This could be as a result of many things. "THE VILLAGE" should be somewhere in the list of the services, but it may not be in the list that has LCNs, since it does not have one. It may be a good idea to have a closer look through all the service groups / bouquets on your T3 to see if it is hidden somewhere unexpected.
I can see that the service is using incorrect transmission parameters, so it's possible it's missing all sorts of other DVB data mandated for Australia. Whoever operates that service is not using a properly allocated Original_Network_ID (ONID) and has just randomly plucked a value out of thin air. What's worse, they are not even using a value from the range reserved for private and temporary use. They appear to identify themselves as "NET A", but I wonder if that is just the default setting on the equipment they are using.
If you can, backup your settings, do a factory reset, then a full scan and attach the freshly generated lamedb and lcndb files. If you wish, you can then restore your settings after you have provided those files.

Re: Unable to switch to non public Bcast channel (5)
Hmm...following the patterns, looks like you're missing an entry in lcndb, which should go something like:
...but I have no idea why. Hopefully Peteru can shed some light...
EDIT: ...and it looks like he has whilst I was prepping this post
Code: Select all

Re: Unable to switch to non public Bcast channel (5)
We have something similar in our village, looks like you have other problems but in the epg settings there is also something to hide channels that don't have program info.
If that's set the wrong way I don't get the village channels showing in the epg so it might worth checking that too.

Thanks, hadn't looked there.kim1961 wrote:We have something similar in our village, looks like you have other problems but in the epg settings there is also something to hide channels that don't have program info.

But "skip empty services" seems to be what you are defining.
In either mode on or off, doesn't make any difference.
Either to the EPG, or the real issue, that I cannot select ch 5. ( LCN 5)
I'm sure this wont help, but just for academic interest: The device we are using, takes the VGA out from a PC converts it to an output that can be directly injected into the aerial distribution. Called a VC01
I don't think that its a very sophisticated convertor.

Re: Unable to switch to non public Bcast channel (5)
Here are the new files as requested.
Saved setting, reset to factory, full scan, internet connect done.
Files transferred across by Filezilla, and renamed .txt files so I can upload them. No file manipulation done.
The only thing I can say with surety is that every TV and other devices using the aerial distribution system can select and display Ch 5.
My other BW's had no problem with it, and still don't.
As it is an inhouse system, the signal is not going out over the ether as it were, I guess there was no requirement to go and get "proper" allocation

There would be no argument from me that the device may not be using all, that is defined by Aust standards.can see that the service is using incorrect transmission parameters, so it's possible it's missing all sorts of other DVB data mandated for Australia. Re: Unable to switch to non public Bcast channel (5)
Without an entry in the lcndb you will not get a generated entry added to the special "Terrestrial TV LCN" bouquet, however as it does have an entry in the lcndb it should show up in the All list, FAV -> Red(All). Also it should show up in the "Last Scanned" bouquet if it was present during the last channel scan you did (hint:- do a single channel scan of 38).
When you find your "THE VILLAGE" channel use Menu -> "add service to bouquet" to make the channel a member of your favourite/bouquet lists.
If you want it as LCN 5 you will need to manually edit /etc/enigma2/userbouquet.terrestrial_lcn.tv and replace the
. "#SERVICE 1:832:D:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:"
entry about line 8 with
. "#SERVICE 1:0:1:76:3FA:3200:EEEE0000:0:0:0:"
then do a FAV-> Menu -> Reload Services

To much huh! Then just do this :-

If I go to favourites, I see it shows up in (TV) Terrestial TV LCN as LCN 202
it also shows up in the EPG. I can see it as the last entry in the EPG.
I can select the ch directly by using 202 as the ch, I can also go to it from the EPG .
If I select last scanned, it's not seen at all. But now it shows in the EPG
If I go to FAV all, the it is seen.
oh dear much too much for my feeble brain.
At least I now have a method of finding it.
I left the rummaging around in the box for those that can do it with courage, and can recover. Been a long time since I've dabbled at that level.
