nothing from optical (normally used via amp)

tried straight to TV via hdmi and then co-ax still nothing!

Tried shutdown!

Tried upgrading to 2014-09-11!

can only get sound via xbmc on tablet or vu+ on mobile!

Do you mean that there was no page at the start of the setup asking if you want to restore settings from a backup? I don't think i've ever seen a startup message that actually says that there are no settings backups.

If I've guessed correctly about what happened, that means that for some reason it couldn't find the backup file.

No! I said no to the import settings after booting! Because when I choose yes the first time I got no sound!

The loss of sound was nothing to do with the upgrade, I have been using the latest upgrade for a number of days!

Maybe just a glitch in the settings backup files?

You didn't just have the t3 volume set to minimum did you? Or fiddle with the bitstream settings?

There have been problems with corruption of the settings file, but none have been reported for a long time.
