IR LED AWOL

Post by scotty » Tue Sep 16, 2014 00:55

Has anyone noticed the red led stops flashing for short remote presses? It still flashes fine for long presses.

It stopped working for a couple of weeks. I then upgraded to the Ice beta on the weekend and the led started flashing for short presses again. Two days later and it's stopped working again.

Seems it's a problem that resets with firmware flashes, isn't backed up in settings and deteriorates over a day or two.

I'm running the beta front panel update.

Just did a bit more testing and the problem seems to have deteriorated further...

Harmony remote: short press no flash, long press flashes fine.

T3 remote: no flash for short or long press at all.

Some more observations...

A factory reset made no difference, before or after restoring settings.

After reflashing the firmware the led flashes fine for short and long remote key presses again. I assume it will stop working again over the next day or two.

The LED behaviour will probably change as soon as your first recording starts or when you save a timeshift buffer. I had a quick look at the code to see if I could spot anything. It looks like the front panel LED(s) get(s) reprogrammed when either of those two things occur.

Thanks Peter.

Can this thread be moved to the Bug Reporting section or can it be locked and I'll post there referencing here?
