Random questions about the T3

Post by Starionx » Mon Sep 15, 2014 01:52

1) Can the 'Time shift' buttons (1,4,7, etc) be programmed to other buttons?
2) When you record back to back programs, does the unit record both on the same tuner, and if so, will both programs have pre/post padding, or only pre for the first and post for the second?

1) No, the can't be mapped to other buttons from the GUI. (Though it should be possible to do it from the command line and editing the keymap files...if so, the changes will not be backed up automatically, and will be wiped out whenever a patch or firmware upgrade overwrites the keymap file(s)).
2) Yes, consecutive recordings will use the same tuner, and the pre and post padding will be applied to both recordings. You will get full overlap.

It's probably not a good idea to change the keymap.xml file (singular) without consulting the Python GUI source code to work out what the side-effects of the change are.

Just to clarify on the key remapping, you can remap the skip keys, including the skip mode and the duration and direction of the skip.

Thanks for the info. :)

Another question.

I know the IceTv epg interface is still in beta, but will the xml file location be able to be accessed by ftp? Currently, I download the xml file from Icetv to my PC. I then manipulate and format the file using an Autohotkey script I wrote, to get rid of all the shows I have no intention of watching, then ftp the file to my Toppy pvrs. When I now look at the epg, there are a lot of blank entries.

WTF? Are you still using the same kludgy workflow that Tony and I came up with almost 10 years ago, when there was nothing better?

That workflow is not going to be supported. It's at least two generations behind. The new IceTV API is a lot more dynamic and currently confidential. If I understand correctly, IceTV may make some future version of the API public, but for now, you need an API key to even talk to the server.
