That's a shame.

I am not having any trouble, and have the Harmony Ultimate, which is pretty much just a fancy version of the Touch (though I use the IR blaster and not the remote itself to send the signals).

You should investigate prl's suggestion of inspecting the logs as well.

This is just pure speculation and a suggestion of desperation, but have you tried moving the T3 to a different angle or putting it in a slightly different location in case you are getting some fluke reflections from the Harmony? The Harmony does have a much stronger IR emitter than most common remotes and its signal might be getting received differently......

If you want someone to look at the logs to see what's going on, then I'm happy to do it.

To get the information I want, you need to:
  1. Enable debug logging in Open Webif, Settings>Log settings, then tick Enable debug logs. It looks as though nothing happens when you tick the box, but it does work.
  2. Then, in Open Webif Power Control, or long-press POWER on the T3 remote, choose Restart GUI.
  3. When everything is up and running, click OK on Terrestrial TV LCN on the T3 remote to go to live TV if necessary.
  4. In live TV, press EXIT on the remote three times (this isn't for the function, it should do nothing (apart from put up the "that button does nothing" popup), but it is an easy-to-spot marker in the debug file.
  5. Short-press POWER on the T3 remote to go to standby.
  6. Then Short-press POWER on the T3 remote to come back out of standby.
  7. Repeat steps 4-6, but this time use the front panel power button to come out of standby.
  8. Repeat steps 4-6, but this time use the Harmony to come out of standby, in the way that causes the Terrestrial TV LCN screen to come up.
  9. Use a browser on your PC to go to ftp://root:none@beyonwizt3/home/root/logs/. You should see at least one file with a name that looks like Enigma2-19-09-2014_12-37-48.log, but with a different date/time in its name. If there's more than one, choose the one with the newest date/time in its name.
  10. Click on the file's link and save it as file on your PC.
  11. Use Upload Attachment in the Post Reply window to attach the saved file to your post. If the forum software refuses to upload the log because of its '.log' extension, add a '.txt' extension to it.

Do you have this issue inly after you have restored your settings? Or to rephrase, if you do a USB upgrade, continue with the installation wizard and change nothing, do you still experience the problem? If not, then the problem is with one of your settings.

The first place I would look at would be:

* Go to live TV and switch to your favourite channel.
* Press down arrow.
* Press MENU
* select "set as startup service"

That should make the T3 just go to this channel when you start it.

If you are retrieving stuff from your T3, please attach your ftp://root:none@beyonwizt3/etc/enigma2/settings file.

If your network does not support automatic DNS registration you may need to replace beyonwizt3 with the IP address of your T3. For example ftp://root:none@192.168.1.23/etc/enigma2/settings

You can find the IP address of your T3 by pressing MENU, selecting Information and then Network.

We seem to have established that it only happens on a wake from standby, and not a GUI reboot or wake from deep standby.

Also, waking from standby using the front panel button does not trigger it, and now it appears that the T3's native remote doesn't trigger it (though it did before?)

I don't see how it could be a setting given all of that.

It's a quick check that proves that it's not the settings. Once you have the proof that the issue is still present with default settings, you have eliminated the entire firmware as a possible cause and reduced your search space to either the T3 hardware or the Logitech remote.

It should take about 10-15 minutes to test and you can always restore your settings when you are done, thus losing nothing.

This process of elimination could save you hours and hours of fiddling with the Logitech, only to find that it was not the source of the issues.

Problem solved. Its' your settings.

You'll need to get rid of:

Code: Select all

config.servicelist.startuproot=1:7:1:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:FROM BOUQUET "bouquets.tv" ORDER BY bouquet;1:7:1:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:FROM BOUQUET "userbouquet.favourites.tv" ORDER BY bouquet
config.servicelist.startupservice=1:0:1:550:505:1013:EEEE0000:0:0:0:
and change

Code: Select all

config.tv.lastroot=1:7:1:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:FROM BOUQUET "bouquets.tv" ORDER BY bouquet;1:7:1:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:FROM BOUQUET "userbouquet.favourites.tv" ORDER BY bouquet;
to

Code: Select all

config.tv.lastroot=1:7:1:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:FROM BOUQUET "bouquets.tv" ORDER BY bouquet;1:7:1:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:FROM BOUQUET "userbouquet.terrestrial_lcn.tv" ORDER BY bouquet;
This has to be done when enigma2 is not running. If you don't feel confident using the command line or editing config files, it may be best to just restore factory defaults and set everything up again. If you are up to it, it's a case of:

telnet to the T3 as root with no password
init 4
edit the config file
init 3

That ought to do it.

But did you check for the problem again before you restored your old settings?

If you restored your old settings then the problem would have come back with them.

What confuses me is how the settings became corrupted in such a way that they couldn't have been set that way from the gui?

this confuses me to, don't think i had anything to do with corrupting these settings.
Don't know about restoring old settings just followed the wizard to set up again. Will go through the process tomorrow.

When you do go through a clean setup, test that it all works as it should before you change any settings.

In particular, do not do anything with favourites until you verified that you no longer have the problem. If the problem comes back with a clean config, then I was wrong and it wasn't those entries. At that point, you can go back to looking at the Logitech.

However, I suspect that it'll be OK with a clean config. You may be able to "break it" again, by re-doing some of your config settings. If you do break it, it would be great if you can narrow it down to which setting is causing the problem. Once we know, it has a chance of being fixed.

After a few factory resets i can say that it has to be the harmony touch remote. what i am finding is that when using harmony remote the T3 sometimes does not turn on or turn off, my other devices work fine. I have tried to change the order in which device turns on first. Makes no difference
1 Beyonwiz
2 sony bravia
3 onkyo receiver
I am now at a loss as to what to try next.

Are you testing using the activity on and off actions or just using the power toggle button for the t3 device?

I am just wondering since it sounds like you are turning on a bunch things at once which could be confusing your diagnostic steps.

Yes using the activity that i set up , 3 devices turn on at once, first T3 then sony bravia then receiver. Just had a thought maybe i should set a time delay for each unit to turn on

Perhaps that could work.

Can you try just turning on your t3 activity and then just the power toggle button the t3 on your Harmony.

That way you will see if it the activity sequence that causing issue just the power toggle command from the Harmony.

when the T3 does not turn on i can use the power toggle in the T3 activity and works every time, i am thinking it can not handle every thing coming on at the same time

IMO, the way to find out what codes the T3 is being sent is to look in the debug logs.

I have been doing some testing and it seem it has something to do with activities within the harmony. I have changed the order of which unit comes on first second the third. It seems that if the T3 is first then i have the issue with the screen appearing, if i make it last to come on then it is fine. It is almost like when i have the T3 to turn on first it does not like the other devices turning on with it but if it is last to turn on the commands for other devices have already been done so hence no interference. I really think the harmony touch is the issue when using activities, i can drive the remote manually by selecting devices and i can turn the T3 on and of without any issues and the screen does not appear.

I can't see any obvious problems there.

But I've already made it clear what I think would be the diagnostic path that might reveal what is going on.

clearly a issue with the harmony remote

I haven't seen where you've done this:

Will do when i get some spare time so i concentrate so i can give you accurate logs.

I'm not certain of that, but mainly because I've found the information that you've posted about what works with which remotes and with the front panel rather confusing.

But if it's true that the problem is due to the Harmony remote, the test I proposed will also show exactly what remote codes the Harmony is sending, which should give some clue as to why the Harmony is causing problems, and perhaps indicate a way to fix it.

In the absence of that information, I'm going to drop out of the discussion for now, but I'm willing to help you set up the required logging.

i understand what you are saying but it seem that my pc is having troubles logging into that link, the only way is to use ftp://192.168.1.11/etc/enigma2/settings
this step does not work for me .
9. Use a browser on your PC to go to ftp://beyonwizt3/media/hdd/logs/. You should see at least one file with a name that looks like Enigma2-19-09-2014_12-37-48.log, but with a different date/time in its name. If there's more than one, choose the one with the newest date/time in its name.
it will not log in, it says sever not found so i can't see logs with date/time

Use 192.168.1.11 instead of beyonwizt3 everywhere where the latter is mentioned in the instructions, including for using Open Webif.

There well be no Enigma2-* files in the logs directory until you enable debug logs using Open Webif, as in steps 1 and 2 of the instructions. Using the FTP link isn't mentioned until step 9.

My apologies. The FTP url in the instructions should have been ftp://root:none@beyonwizt3/home/root/logs/ (or ftp://root:none@192.168.1.11/home/root/logs/ in your case, because the beyonwizt3 name isn't getting registered with your router).

I copy/pasted the wrong url into the instructions. Fixed in the original now, too. :oops:

Do you see Enigma-* files there?

The Harmony (third startup from standby) is definitely doing something different in the logs. I'll post more detail later tonight or tomorrow.

Yep, Harmony is sending an extra key press. The equivalent of pressing the TV key. So, the T3 is doing exactly what it's being told to do.

Ahh. In your activity, you need to disable the step that selects an input on the t3.

Go through the setup wizard and when it asks for an input the t3, select the none option.
