Deletion Warning

Post by tezza007 » Mon Sep 08, 2014 23:47

Why does the T3 give the below warning? I've always ignored it and never had any problems

I'm pretty sure that it gives the warning if you delete a file that's currently recording and then empty the trashcan. If stopping the recording and deleting it permanently is what you wanted, then there would be no problem from the user's point of view. If the user actually wanted to keep it and it deleted without asking, then I guess that would be a problem.

Are there other circumstances where the message appears? You haven't given any context.

I just figured everyone got it. It comes up every time I empty the deleted directory

You are the guy that records 35+ hours of TV every day, right? 8)

Not everyone goes that hard, so there is less chance of seeing it, since most people would not have an active recording or a recording coming up in the next few minutes at all times of day.

Not nearly that much! :D But some days that many recordings, but they don't start on weekdays until 6pm, yet the message can appear hours before that

There's not a lot to record this week, so

And are you mad enough to run EPGrefresh by any chance? 8)

Hehehe ahhh, yes, it gets stuck if you don't untick the "refresh autotimers" option.

Otherwise it works well though (once the problematic settings are safely avoided)! I have only left it uninstalled at this moment because I am now on the Ice beta release and no longer require it.

Mind you, with Tezza's preoccupation with tuner usage, I'd presume he would have noticed if one of the tuners was hung up and stuck on a service if that was the fault?

You get a confirmation message about whether you want to permanently delete the items in the trashcan whether or not there there are recordings or upcomng recordings. When there are recordings or upcoming recordings you get the added text "Recording(s) are in progress or coming up in few seconds!". I'm not sure whether the added information is useful in any context. "Few seconds" means "less than two minutes" in that message.

On why you get the message when you don't expect it: what setting do you have for "Refresh EPG using"?

Isn't EPGRefresh supposed to update only once a day? That's certainly how it looks in the code.

Less than 2 minutes? I'll keep an eye on that.

I can't see any setting for EPGrefresh to update more than once a day
