T2 becoming unresponsive

Post by AvB » Tue Sep 05, 2023 07:30

We have an old T2 which we use constantly. In the last couple of weeks it's regularly been becoming unresponsive ... TV keeps playing but no response to any remote buttons. Sometimes the "spinning star wheel" appears on the screen before/ when this happens. Turning off the power switch for a minute or so it seems to reboot OK. However it sometimes takes a while to become responsive again showing the "spinning wheel".
I'm not a techie but not too bad at working on stuff. Any suggestions on what to do? Is it likely that the disk might need replacing? Any diagnostics I can run to see the problem? Cheers, thanks.

Do you use AutoTimers? If so, have you changed/added any recently?

I do use an auto timer for the ABC News and 7:30 report to make sure that I get the right version each night. Is that likely to cause a problem?

I keep the disk only about half used , and the deleted files auto-delete after a few days.

Cheers,

Andrew.

AutoTimers can cause spinner in some circumstances, but if you haven't added or changed any recently, they're probably not the cause.

Have you changed any other configuration lately? Do you use Windows sharing on the T2?

No I don't think we've changed anything else at all recently. It seems to freeze pretty much every day, maybe a couple of times, at random times.
