V2 Doesn't Show Any Files When Using DLNA

Post by juergen » Sun Dec 18, 2022 20:00

I have a V2 that I can access across the network using FTP, or via OpenWebif in a browser.

However, I would like to play some recordings from another TV that can only access the V2 using the DLNA interface.
"miniDLNA Server" shows up as a source on the TV but doesn't contain any files.

Disclaimer: I am aware that DLNA is something to be used as a last resort!

When I open up "miniDLNA Server" on a computer, it jumps to a browser page at http://192.168.0.115:8200/
This is titled "MiniDLNA status" and shows:

Media Library
Audio files 0
Video files 0
Image files 0

Is there some trick to getting the media shared properly from the V2? I am sure that this worked in the past.

BTW, I am storing files in a single external USB drive attached to the V2. From FTP, all files are visible in /media/hdd/movie

Thanks for any pointers!

Check the location that miniDLNA is looking for media files.

You should be able to see that setting via the GUI Setup menu.
I thought that the /hdd/movie folder was shared by default though.

I thought that the /hdd/movie folder was shared by default though.

To be precise, the default DLNA share folder is /media/hdd/movie/
/hdd is a symbolic link to /media/hdd, so /hdd/movie should also work, provided the DLNA server doesn't do funny stuff with symbolic links.

In the DLNA server setup screen, there's a BLUE Show log button, so you can check for errors there. When I checked my log, I saw that it didn't like a recording that had been recorded with the "Composition of recording name" set to "Event name first".

Other than that recording, the rest of the recordings show up under Plug'n'Play in VLC on my Mac with default settings in VLC. Not that that helps much with Windows.

Thank you both for your help.

The default folder was set to /media/hdd/movie/ so seemed OK.

Checking the log via the blue button l saw a few errors complaining about favicon.ico and robots.txt but nothing significant.

I stopped and started the miniDLNA service and followed by rebooted the whole box

It would be a little embarrassing if all it took was a reboot, but it is working fine now :-)
