Changing IP address

Post by bpratt » Sun Dec 15, 2019 22:29

interesting I came across another issue, where I can not manually set the IP address for the T4. when I go to change it, I can only change the third section of the IP address.

Set the t4 up for my other remotes here, and none of them allow me to change it.

Probably the least of my issues at the moment though.

Yesterday I had the same problem on a U4 but I managed to set the IP address eventually. I don't know which button presses allowed me to set the other octets because I was pushing a lot of buttons. Firmware 19.3.20191106.

There's half your problem - look and read before using buttons or mouse !!!
Had people like that when I was in IT, we called them The Mousketeers because all they did was point, click and jump all over the place when things went pear shaped !!!

Try setting a manual address yourself and see how you go. It seems to start off working but if you make a mistake and try to correct the error the wheels fall off. Changing between the octets gets flaky and entering less than 3 digits becomes problematic.

I just did without any serious problem. Yes it is not perfect and there not always a clear idea of what position you are in (though sometimes there is). So I agree it needs some work.

But all you need to do is start at the beginning and type the numbers, and if you have an octet that needs less than 3 digits you just need to type 3 digits by typing preceding zeros.

That's all well and good if you don't make a mistake and try to correct it. Typing 3 digits wasn't reliable either. Things seem to be fine if type the address without error but the only reliable way I found to correct a mistake was to exit from the screen and start the whole process again. As you said it probably needs a bit of work.

I just tried on my T3 with firmware 17.5.20190207 and it worked properly so maybe an issue with the newer firmware.
