T4 tuner issue

Post by bpratt » Sun Dec 15, 2019 16:09

Went to use my old T4 today, which is primarily used to watch a HDMI input, and wanted to update the tv guide, so went to each channel, got a picture, but no audio.

So I went to do a re-tune, and it came up with zero channels found.

looking at signal strengths, it could not display any as you'd expect.

Anyway, went to go back to the HDMI input, and it wouldn't allow me to change it by channel number, not the blue button option 1, however option 2 for picture in picture worked.

Moved the T4 to another room and aerial socket, and no change.

Sounds like the regulators driving your tuners are cactus.
Or more accurately, the heatsink compound on those regulators is eating it's way through your motherboard.

Most T4's have suffered this fate.

I'd contact warkus or Beyonwiz to discuss repairs.

upgraded to new firmware, no difference.

Can play media off the internal HD fine, audio and video play back fine.

Now I can't even get HDMI-In to work at all pip no longer works for me.

Oh bugger, the T4 was the only one that worked HDMI-IN for my foxtel box.

Sounds rather terminal if the heatsink paste is eating in to the motherboard.

Have a look at the state of your tuner regulators, see here - viewtopic.php?f=47&t=13349&#p178514, and follow the links to some more photos (including some of my T4 posted on Whirlpool).
