FTP problem

Post by Maindee » Sun Dec 15, 2019 13:23

Hi Guys

I was in the middle of downloading files to my BZ T2 using FileZilla and it crashed saying it couldn't connect to the server. I tried several times with no joy. I then replaced my version of FileZilla with the latest version and still no joy. Subsequently, I rebooted the BZ with no luck - same message re. no connection to the server. The host name is "beyonwizt2" and user name "root" with password and Port left blank. My BZ firmware is up-to-date - Build 20190217. There was a FileZilla message stating that the "unsecure server does not support FTP over TLS" which didn't mean much to me!!

I have also tried "CoreFTP" with the same result

Can you help please?

You need to set up a password in the T2 if you want to be able to connect using ftp. The connection will not function without it (by design). You set the password in the "password" section under "Network" in the T2 Settings menu.

FTP over TLS is a secure form of FTP. You don't need to connect using secure FTP, just regular will suffice.

Thank MrQuade

I will try your suggestion later this afternoon. Strange though, that it has been working OK for many months without a password.

That isn't the latest firmware. A new firmware was released recently.

MrQuade, my apologies, I must have set a password many moons ago and forgotten about it. The FileZilla must have remembered it and that is what I have been using ever since - until today that is. I have reset the password and all is now working OK.

Blip - thanks for the heads up re the latest firmware. I was just going on what the BZ was telling me.

The notification of online updates won't show "major" updates but it will also depend what feed you were on for updates (there are two - general and beta) and they may not have both been updated.

So always a good idea to keep an eye on the forum for details of updates as well.
Cheers
