No HDD Found

Post by amanda350 » Fri Nov 15, 2019 17:55

I seem to have 'lost' my recordings list. All recordings have been saved to /media/hdd/movie. In trying to find out why my 1000GB is saying I have no recording space left despite only 220MB in recordings, I have clearly changed some setting. I now cannot find the above in my directory list but it is showing in 'bookmarks' but I am unable to access this. When I try to record it now says No HDD found or HDD not initialised. As with everything probably an easy fix if you know how. Advice please.

Dou you have 2 USB storage devies attached (say, the recording HDD and thumb drive)?

If so, shut down the V2, unplug the thumb drive and restart.

No, only the internal HDD. However, I have just turned off and on for the fortieth time and lo and behold all is right with the world again. go figure.... well, nearly. Despite having 200 files at circa 1500MB each I still have no disk space available. 200 x 1500MB does not equal 1000GB. I will post this issue and see if someone can advise. Thank you

"internal HDD"
T2 or V2? When you previously posted you had a T2.

In File Commander (MENU>>Sources / Files), you should see the hard drive listed.
Select and open it, do you see a '.Trash' directory listed (/media/hdd/.Trash/, and is it empty?
Do you see your 'movie' directory listed? Does it contain the expected contents? Is its '.Trash' directory (/media/hdd/movie/.Trash/) empty or is that where all the space has gone?

Hi and yes realised I had posted in V2 and not T2. I have checked as you have stated and yes my trash is empty. I have in this list however a /media/hdd/timeshift/ which when I open this it has a list under <parent directory> one of which is 'pts_livebuffer_1. This comes up with /media/hdd/timeshift/pts_livebuffer_1 750.71MB Sat 16 Nov 2019 15:49:57 Mode 600. Seems this may be the issue - is it somehow in timeshift and I need to delete this or is this normal?

I'm pointing out that you could have two x '.Trash' directories, one above the 'movie' directory, and one below the 'movie' directory - ensure you check both.

This is where the timeshift buffers are accumulated. They'll get cleaned out at times such as, changing/zapping the live TV service, GUI restarts, reboots (may be others).
As long as there's not "lots" of pts_livebuffer_{n} files it'll be normal. There'll be one for each program event that has started on your current live TV service, allowing you to step backward/forward into and around those programs that have/are showing.

This might be easier.
Download the attached script to a USB thumb drive. Insert the drive into the T2. Fire up File Commander, navigate to the USB drive and then the script file, and press OK and '3' (Run script).
Look in the displayed output for where the space has gone.
