Network Server Not Found

Post by vasilis » Sun Jun 19, 2011 11:28

I just bought a new router Linksys E4200 and installed the latest router firmware.
Everything works apart from one thing that I haven't been able to do re. communicating with my DP-P2, so I hope someone can help me.

What I Can do:
- I can run WizMac and see all the recordings from my iMac
- The DP-P2 correctly identifies the Mac when I do network scan.
BUT...
- I cannot see my shared folders. I get "Network Server Not Found" instead when I try do expand the shared directory entry.
I didn't have this problem with my old D-Link G router BTW.

I also have a NAS on the 1Gb Ethernet and I can view and play my NAS files, from the DP-P2.

Have you tried doing a Clear All PC and then a new Scan in the Network part of the File Player? The new router may have assigned a new IP address to the NAS. The Beyonwiz caches the IP addresses of Windows Sharing servers that it finds on the scan. If the IP addresses of the servers change, they'll still appear in the list, but you won't be able to access through them. For this reason it's recommended to have toyr router's DHCP server assign fixed mappings between Ethernet hardware (MAC) addresses and IP addresses on your network.

Hi Vasilis,

Your new router has allocated new (and different) IP addresses to some/all of your devices. It is recommended that you use the routers configuration tools to allocate each device its own IP address so that these addresses do not change over time.

To get the Beyonwiz working again simply go to the File Player and select Network on the left hand menu. You should be offered the YELLOW button to Clear All PCs and RED to Scan. Press YELLOW to remove the index of the old addresses and then RED to scan for the new addresses.

Regards,
Ian.

Hi

prl et al, thank you so much - this has been driving me nuts and the simple answer was not to scan over and over again and make extremly complex changes to my security settings but to clear all and start again - streaming from my PC now working beautifully - I have only had the beyonwiz for 18 months!!! What a klutz!

cheers, Rob
