External Blu Ray Player

Post by headbutt » Fri May 16, 2014 15:04

Hi there, does any one know if it's possible to plug an external PC Blu Ray drive into the USB or E-SATA port of the T3. Are there any drivers out there to support this?

I have not tried, but I see no reason why it would not work. Those things are just optical mass storage devices with MMC support and are very likely to just work as such straight out of the box. The eSATA option is likely the better choice.

There is a blueray plugin, as well as dvdburner and dvdplayer plugins. No idea how well, or even if, they work.

PLUGIN, then Green Download plugins, then navigate to extensions, click OK, and then navigate to the plugin you want to try, and click OK.

LEFT/RIGHT allow you to page through the plugin list.

I bought a USB Blue Ray player and the T3 sees it and I can browse the disc however I can't find a Blue Ray player plugin, does anyone know of one?

I found one in the Download plugins list. Under extensions, named something obvious like bluerayplayer.

It looks like its a Blu Ray database and not a player.

I haven't tried it (don't have any BlueRay gear), but the description is a bit ambiguous, could parse either way.

I just had a play with it and it is an interface to a database of new releases, reviews and price comparisons for Blu-Ray disks (and presumably PS3 games, though I didn't see any). The content has a strong German bias and is written in German.

On reflection, isn't the DRM on Blu-Ray intended to prevent writing software Blu-Ray players?

That's my understanding too. Can't have people playing legally purchased BDs wherever they want can we?
And they wonder why people put the effort into decrypting and ripping........ Stealing from thieves!

I've read that VLC player supports playing Bluray and there is a plugin for it but I can't work out how it works.
