Wireless keyboard

Post by nylonnet » Wed Mar 26, 2014 16:18

I'm not up with Bluetooth. Does anyone know what sort of mini-keyboard/dongle the T3 sells as an option, and what would suit as an alternative?

For example, is this the sort of thing? ...
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mini-Wireles ... 04e&_uhb=1

Edit: the Beyonwiz shop's T3 ad (http://beyonwiz.com.au/shop/index.php?r ... duct_id=55) says the mini-keyboard is "wireless", but is that wifi (802.11) or Bluetooth?

Edit 2: Or doesn't it matter? Perhaps the T3 doesn't care if a wifi or Bluetooth dongle + remote keyboard is being used? (Or am I thinking too much like a Windows user?)

Edit after getting the T3 - I got a Rii mini X1 bluetooth keyboard/trackpad and it works nicely with the T3. No need for the $110 Beyonwiz offering!

I've ordered a mini bluetooth keyboard/mousepad. If it doesn't work on the T3, I'll use it with my TV or server.
I'll keep you posted after my T3 arrives.

Nylonnet,

I have one of these (from way back) & whilst I haven't ever used it I would think this is more like what you would need!

You can also get this same unit in Bluetooth.

The video is somewhat confusing though as whilst the it says Wi-Fi keyboard (meaning I assume 802.11) it fails to explain that you probably need to add a Wi-Fi USB device (or possibly a Bluetooth one)? Research tends to show that Bluetooth is the more problematic method. There again I could be wrong so others may be more across this? :?:

I use a Logitech K400 with the T3 and it works, including the volume and mute keys.

I got a $20 Rii RT-MWK01 X1 (including the Bluetooth receiver dongle) and it works well with my TV (Viera plasma 50") and my laptop and my torrent server (which normally has no keyboard/mouse attached - I control it via VNC).

(Out of idle curiosity, I tried it on my S1. No luck, in case you were wondering.)

I was hoping to test the Rii on the T3 over the Easter break, but that looks unlikely at the moment (3:38pm on pre-Easter Thursday) unless a big truck arrives very soon.

I am curious what device Beyonwiz is selling for $110 for a dongle + keyboard. It had better be gold-plated with caviar keys for that sort of money.

EDIT after getting my T3: the Rii works nicely with the T3.

Well I splashed out on the keyboard that Beyonwiz were selling - the Xtreamer Mini Keyboard 2. Problem is, the instructions are minimal and I don't have a clue how to get the keyboard to talk to the T3. Does anyone else have this keyboard and successfully got it running?

Does the T3 have a wireless receiver built in? If not, I may be missing a receiver, I suppose, but then if so, I may be short of a USB slot anyway.

Please use search before posting. There are already posts about how the dongle is stored in the battery compartment.

I think the posts about the hidden dongle were lost in the server crash.

I also purchased the Xtreamer Mini Keyboard2 from Beyonwiz, I found the dongle in the battery compartment, but after plugging the dongle into the USB slot in the T3 front panel I am at a loss to work out how to get it to communicate with the T3.

I tried it on my Computer, which runs Windows 7 and after it located and loaded the driver it works perfectly. Can anyone help me with the communication to the T3 please.
