Deleting bug?

Post by Gully » Sun Jan 14, 2018 21:49

Just had this in a pop up window when I started watching a media file.

It clearly relates to a folder I was trying to ensure was deleted from Trash on a network drive, so might have been my lack of patience but never having experienced a similar pop-up I thought I better pass it on.

(On a T2 running 17.5.20171230 beta firmware)
Cheers

Could you post the crash log?

I don't think there will be one.

As Peter said there wasn't one. Didn't seem to crash as such. I could clear the dialog and continue using the T2. So the only log was what was displayed on screen.

It's trying to delete Chance S10/cifs1435 from trash. Any idea what the file is?

It looks like it might have been caused when you deleted something from trash while trash was being auto-cleaned.

No idea what the file is but yes your explanation fits. Thanks, Peter.

In the code it looks like it's throwing an exception when perhaps it might be more appropriate to either do a popup, or if it can't be done there, to handle the exception in a slightly less alarming-looking way. It may be hard to replicate the bug, though.

Agreed it could be handled less alarmingly. Whether it happens enough to be worth the effort is another matter.

I'll try to replicate but essentially

RED button delete trash on a network drive
Check contents of trash
RED button delete folder still left in trash
Go and play a media file in another network location.

As I posted to start it might just be my impatience but as I often find less used network drives not getting their trash emptied I wanted to clear them while I was still there.
