Rewind Live Recording Crash

Post by cde » Mon Nov 20, 2017 21:00

This seems to be pretty consistent. If a show is recording and I hit the rewind button it will take about 1-2 seconds then it will crash. I'm hoping this is not expected behavior. It will do this on time shift after the initial 10 sec wait as well.

Upgrade to 17.5 series firmware and try again.

If you still get crashes, please post the log itself. Screenshots of vi screen with truncated lines are not usable for debugging.

Couldn't see the crash details - was that the end of the crash log?

I just tried that on timeshift and didn't have the issue on (17.5) 20171029 firmware. I also tried it chase-playing a recording, and again no issue.

Switched over the the beta releases. Downloaded 500+ updates without issue. Its going through the update and seems to be stuck on "Configuring" bar at about 10%, and below beyonwiz-base looks fully complete. The spinning wheel is on the screen as well. Web interface is non-responsive.

How long do I give it?

....

If you're updating from the latest official firmware (20170310), at several steps from there to the latest beta (20170828), the instructions were to load the firmware from USB. At a few of those steps, you also needed to redo your setup from scratch.

The failed update will most likely have left your PVR's firmware in a very inconsistent state, so now you'll need to reload the firmware from USB anyway.

Stop the update by either logging in to the PVR with telnet and running the command "halt" (preferred), or power off at the rear switch.

Get a copy of the 20170828 USB update and install it using the normal update procedure, but do not restore settings from backup. When the backup completes, redo your settings. If you use IceTV, have IceTV send all recordings to the PVR.

The new firmware will warn you and suggest you do an update from USB if there are 100 or more packages in an online update.

If you are seeing 500+ updates, then you definitely loaded the wrong USB image.

You should be using the one that prl linked. That thread is the top thread in the beta forums.

Sorted, reloaded via USB.

Edit - rewinding live tv now no-longer crashes the unit :)
