New Software Update Now Available - T2 / T3 / T4 / U4 / V2
Version: 19.3_20211010

This update is available as a full USB firmware image or an online update.

As with any firmware update, it is highly recommended that users back up their settings immediately prior to performing this update. There are two methods to back up the current settings:

The online update notification will offer an option to Back up current settings.
 
Navigate from Main Menu > Setup > Software manager > Create backup.

Download locations for full USB firmware updates. These files are suitable to completely re-install the firmware from any previous version:

NOTE: This response was written to a series of posts that have since been moved to a separate topic.

The intended upgrade path is using the normal user interface that employs the TV and original remote control. This is a fairly straight forward exercise that in most cases will work using the online method and in case of trouble, there is the USB fallback option.

Given that this type of firmware upgrade is a rare occurrence for most users, there's really no need to complicate matters with alternate mechanisms. Power users familiar with the command line interface should be able to use opkg to take control. Similarly, users that modified the firmware or installed packages that are not part of the standard feed have done so at their own risk and need to assume some responsibility for dealing with any complications that arise. Discussion pertaining to these topics is best conducted in another topic. In fact, I'd prefer to see any discussions that drift outside of the scope of the mainstream use cases to be split into individual discussion topics that are more focused. Doing so will leave this topic focused and more useful for casual visitors who come here to see what the firmware update notification was all about.

EDIT: I moved most of the posts to a single discussion topic. If the other moderators have the time to clean up that topic by moving posts to their separate topics, that would be very much appreciated.
