Firmware v19.3 will not load on T4

Post by bernien » Sat Sep 26, 2020 10:49

I have a T4 with version 17.5.20190207. I have tried upgrading to 19.3 via USB but my box does not recognize it. Switched unit off, plugged in USB stick with extracted files, switched unit on, and it just boots up without going through the upgrade process. Any solutions?

Thanks everyone for your help. I have had success. Unzipped in hard drive and copied the beyonwiz folder onto an older USB stick and all went to plan. I was using a newer USB3 stick previously which the box apparently did not like. Reinstating the setup back to previous and reinstating all my timers and auto timers was a bit of a pain however. Luckily I took printouts of everything I could via Webif before I updated.

Did you unzip the firmware package into the top level of the USB stick? The USB stick should have a directory "beyonwiz" at its top level, and for a T4, the "beyonwiz" directory should contain the single directory "hdp".

Is the USB stick USB1.1 compatible? A lot of newer USB sticks are not USB1.1 compatible.

Indeed, as the guys note, older USB sticks are often better for flashing a T4. I used an Imation or a Lexar 8GB stick formatted FAT32 to flash mine. I alternate between the last two firmware versions using two USB sticks.

Download the zip file and extract the files on your computer. Copy the beyonwiz folder to the root of the USB stick. It should be good to go. I use the front USB port but it doesn't hurt to try the rear ports too.

If it doesn't work, try another USB stick. I occasionally have had to replace a "good" stick.

bernien, buy a Lexar S50 from Woolies - the drive works every time.
