Failing with USB v17.5 firmware upgrade on T4
I've followed the procedure listed at
<http://www.beyonwiz.com.au/media/downlo ... esV163.pdf>,
using Apple Mac, I've
downloaded the firmware file: beyonwiz-17.5-beyonwizt4-20190207_usb.zip,
moved the beyonwiz folder to the USB,
checked to make sure I have the current bootloader, ie, 15-June-2015,
but when I switch on after inserting the USB, with the TV display indicating it has detected an upgrade, and
the front panel instructing to select the Up Arrow button,
the BWZ reboots to the old firmware?
In case I've made an error in the process I've repeated the whole process several times with same result.
I've searched the forums but haven't been able to find any solutions.
I'd appreciate any suggestions on where I'm going wrong.

Re: Failing with USB v17.5 firmware upgrade on T4
In the folder containing the upgrade files on the USB stick i.e. beyonwiz/hdp/, there is a file called "noforce". Open it in a text reader where it explains renaming that file to "force" will force an update without confirmation. Try this and see if it makes any difference.
Failing that, it's possible your USB stick is too "new". The T4 uses the old USB 1.1 protocol, which newer USB sticks may struggle with. If you have an older USB stick you might try using that instead.

Which up arrow did you press? It needs to be the front panel one, not the one on the remote.

Re: Failing with USB v17.5 firmware upgrade on T4
Pressing buttons on the remote does nothing in this state. All that happens is that the "press up arrow" times out as it would anyway and it goes on to do a normal boot.
The fact that the "press up arrow" instruction appears indicates that the USB drive has been detected and that appropriate upgrade files were found on it.

Right, the timeout was a coincidence when I pressed the remote button so I assumed that was it. Thanks for clarifying.

Thank you for this advice. That solved the problem.stevebow wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 10:32In the folder containing the upgrade files on the USB stick i.e. beyonwiz/hdp/, there is a file called "noforce". (I ran into network related problems, which delayed getting everything back to normal, but all is now good.)
Thank you all so much for your various potential solutions, but this is the one that nailed it.

Which UP button were you pressing?
Of you were indeed pressing the front panel UP button and nothing was happening, it suggests that you front panel may be faulty.

Re: Failing with USB v17.5 firmware upgrade on T4
Yes, I was pressing the front panel up arrow. So the button may be faulty as you say, but very rarely used, so it'd probably ok to live with it.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
