cannot upgrade T4 firmware

Hi,
I have downloaded beyonwiz-17.5-beyonwizt4-20180417_usb.zip file, end extracted beyonwiz folder to the top level of an usb stick. T4 is powered off with the switch at the back. USB plugged in and T4 powered on. After few seconds, the front panel displays "Update: press ^" and "beyonwiz T4 flashtool". Each time I press "^" a blue light flashes, but nothing happens. Eventually, after 10-15 seconds, T4 starts normal boot. Am I missing something ? System info: image: 4.4 kernel 3.14.2 last update 2016-08-18

Hi Sek and welcome

You don't actually need to switch off at the back, just power down.

Are you pressing the button on the front panel rather than on the remote?

Using a USB2 compatible stick formatted FAT32?

Your USB stick seems to be set up properly since the T4 is seeing the update file.

As Gully said, you need to press the up arrow button on the T4 front panel, not the up arrow on the remote.

If that doesn't work, then there may be something wrong with your front panel. There is a way to force the update to go ahead without pressing the up arrow, but we can go through that if the button is confirmed as not working.

actually, you might be right regarding the front panel; ^ arrow does not respond every time I press it !
during normal operation, down arrow (v) on the front panel reacts promptly to every touch, while up arrow (^) requires several attempts before channel is changed. Since I do not normally use it (the front panel), I did not notice the fault until now.
what is the procedure to force the update without using the front panel please ?
should I try to repair the front panel ? is it worth doing it ?

You might want to be sure you are timing the press correctly before you get worried about a fault and checking it during normal use.

If you still have the problem after that, if you go into the u4 folder on the USB stick and rename the file noforce to force that will then run without the need to use the front panel.

It's a T4 not a U4, so the folder name will be "hdp".
