Audio Stream E-AC-3

Hi Fellow Members

I wish to find out if the most recent update firmware V 17.5 allows mkv files containing audio stream E-AC-3 actually play the sound.
At the moment my T4 will not play files that include the audio stream E-AC-3 which I believe is Dolby Plus - I might add the video and subtitles are fine but no sound.
I get around this problem by using a program iMedia Converter Deluxe by skysoft - it converts the audio stream from E-AC-3 to ACC
This process takes about 10 minutes and the file plays ok.
I should not have to do this.
Has any one had the same issue.

Yes, E-AC3 was specifically added to this firmware release for the T4.

There was a donation campaign to provide PeterU with appropriate audio gear, and a special project kicked off to enhance the audio drivers to include this and the ability to play back multi-channel PCM audio (so that AAC downmixing would not have to be converted to stereo).

Read all about it here.
I'm not sure what if anything was ported to the T2/3/U4.

The update was added to the U4 as well.

So Bob, just to confirm you will need to update to the 17/04/2018 firmware to gain this and a lot more improvements.

But you need to set up your T4 from scratch when doing it. It is will be worth it though.
