AutoSharpness

Post by sonicblue » Thu Sep 24, 2020 18:53

Here is a plugin which allows you to set different picture sharpness values according to the resolution of the video content.

My motivation for this plugin was to try and make SD channels look sharper without affecting HD channels.

Please note the quality of the picture sharpening is dependent on the video processor of your model. For example I have the T2 and V2, and I find the T2's sharpening algorithm is quite ugly with severe ringing artefacts, whereas the V2's algorithm is much cleaner.

Source code and download can be found on my Bitbucket page: tiny.cc/AutoSharpness

Many thanks to prl, peteru, adoxa, and MrQuade who helped me learn enigma, without which I probably would have gotten stuck and given up

The plugin has been updated to correct an issue where if you enabled the 3798mv200 fix and are streaming video, such as through the YouTube plugin, you would get some redundant applications of the 3798mv200 fix when the video buffers.
