Plugin to view contents of ZIP file?

Post by raj » Wed Jul 29, 2020 15:33

G'day,

I have a T2 and the other day had to display a collection of JPG files to a group, only the files were in a ZIP archive and I could not open the contents.

Is there any way other than to extract the files from the archive? There were over 2,000 files and it meant a delay as they were unzipped to a folder on the computer and then copied onto the flash drive and viewed that way.

Is there a plugin?

Thanks.

The File commander can view the contents of a zip file.
That's the "Sources / files" entry in the main menu.

You can't preview the individual files in the zip file, but you can easily extract them to a folder on the Wiz though.

There is no way I know of to actually preview or open the files that are in the zip file while they are still contained within the zip file.

You could have also just used your computer to unzip the contents of that zip file to your Wiz via its network connection too, rather than copying to an intermediate USB drive.

The -p and -c options to unzip. However, the FileCommander has no interface to use them, and that wouldn't solve the OP's problem, anyway.

However, copying the ZIP to the Beyonwiz and then using FileCommander to extract, and the picture viewer to view would work, but that would still require the whole archive to be unpacked.

I think that the main problem here is the use of sneakernet for the file transfer, rather than a computer network.

Perhaps, but not on a T2.
