Netgear WNA3100 WIFI dongle on Beyonwiz V2

Post by SandyG » Mon Jul 29, 2019 11:46

I have just bought a Beyonwiz V2. I belatedly decided to try a WIFI dongle, namely Netgear WNA3100, but cannot find where the list of plugins for the Beyonwiz live online, let alone instructions of how to install those plugins on the machine. Or alternatively, if I can find a driver for this dongle for Linux, can this be installed on the BW?

I think you're out of luck with that dongle:
WI1 chip1: Broadcom BCM43231
Probable Linux driver - none

As Grumpy_Geoff says, you won't find a Linux driver for that dongle, but you can see what drivers are pre-installed on the Beyonwiz with PLUGIN from live TV, then RED Remove plugins. Then scroll down to drivers, OK, then scroll (or page up/down with LEFT/RIGHT) to the drivers with names starting with "network-usb".

Then EXIT and GREEN Download plugins and do the same to see what other drivers are available.

The drivers are named for the chipset they support not the product name (necessary because lots of manufacturers use the same chipset, and because there are a lot of no-brand devices out there).

That may help you find a supported device.
