Has anyone tried the seriesplugin plugin?

Post by BradJ » Fri Sep 22, 2017 06:21

It looks interesting but I don't want to screw up my T4 if it's not really compatible.

I know series2folder exists but I'm interested in the seriesplugin feature that renames TV shows, assuming it actually does that since it's hard to see good non German info on it.

I think it is a good idea in concept, but this plugin would have to rely on good metadata in the event description.

I'm not sure that there would be enough info in the Australian EPG data for this plugin to actually work. The different broadcasters have quite different ideas of how much information to provide.

I've never heard of anyone using it, so really the only thing to do is to try it and see how it goes. As MrQuade says, FTA EPG metadata is pretty hit-and-miss. Show titles can be played with, for example by adding tags like "Premiere" or "Encore", and there's absolutely no consistency across broadcasters how the short description & extended description are used.

That data is pretty consistent with IceTV, and you have control of repeat tagging in the title/subtitle/description metadata.

Series2Folder is intended to be as simple to use as possible. Seriesplugin seemed to have a lot of bells & whistles when I looked at the code (quite some time ago).

I installed it some time ago but couldn't get it to do anything useful. Abandoned it accordingly.
