Remote access
Just got my T4 and it seems very good. With the probable demise of IceTV I was wondering if it is possible to set timers, recordings, etc remotely.
I can do it via OpenWebif on PC and WizOS on Android but only while connected to the same network. I would love to set a recording from work for instance.

Re: Remote access
Hi,
Have to set up port forwarding, probably. Depends if other devices you have may be using the same ports as the T4. If so, you'll have to port forward.
If there are no other devices using port 80, just enter your external IP, in a browser, should connect to the T4.
If there are other devices, as an example, If your T4 has the IP of 192.168.100, you set your router to forward external port 7080 to internal port 80 at that IP.
You should be able to enter your external IP:port, for example: 220.233.10.23:7080
You may have to change some other router settings to allow external access.
I'm not sure off-hand what other, if any ports the Ts use, have a search around here.

Re: Remote access
Security on the T2/3/4 isn't great, so although port forwarding works, it would be better to set up a VPN. But that is more complicated.
Also using some form of dynamic dns on your router would allow you to access your network externally if your ISP regularly changes your IP address.
All of these things are doable, but are not simple for a beginner user.

Thanks everybody. Might hope for IceTV to stay afloat.

Re: Remote access
Got it working with NoIP for dynamic DNS and some port forwarding. Thanks everyone.

Re: Remote access
IceTV is extremely unlikely to stay afloat, IMO. The EPG services may be taken up by another entity.denebarry@gmail.com wrote:Thanks everybody. Might hope for IceTV to stay afloat.
BTW: if you're using your real email address as your handle, that's an open invitation to those who trawl the net for email addresses to sell to spammers.
