Mounting NAS, ugh.
Mounting NAS, ugh.
This is doing my head in.
U4 with Firmware 19.3
NAS: Synology DS920+
Trying to mount the main directory called NAS which has been shared and can read/write on W11 PC.
In Mountpoints management
Mount using: AUTOFS (mount as needed)
Active: on
Local share name: 1921681180_NAS
Server IP: 192.168.1.108
Server share: NAS
Use as HDD replacement: off
Mount options: rw,utf8 (I’ve tried vers=2.1 and vers=3.0 with no luck)
SMB protocol version: Default (I’ve tried 2.1 and 3.0 with no luck)
Username and Password have been setup
On Mount Viewer the ‘world’ is green with a tick for NAS.
In Recordings/Location the movie path NAS appears, but in going into it I get an error message: “Directory ‘/media/autofs/NAS/’ does not exist.”
I’ve read the thread “Can’t mount NAS” viewtopic.php?f=43&t=14847
I’ve enable NTLMv1 authentication. SMB has been setup with Max SMB3 and Min SMB2
The U4 can see shared directories on the PC.
Help please.

Re: Mounting NAS, ugh.
Firstly, you don't need to mess around with the "vers=" stuff any more, the "SMB protocol version" option is the new way to select this.
You should try setting that option to "1" in case your NAS doesn't support those later versions.

Re: Mounting NAS, ugh.
Working.
Tried changing Mount using: AUTOFS (mount as needed) to Enigma 2. And bingo,
So the setup for getting a Synology DS920+ NAS is:
Mount using: Enigma2 (mount using enigma2)
Active: on
Local share name: NAS
Server IP: 192.168.1.108
Server share: NAS
Use as HDD replacement: off
Mount options: rw,utf8
SMB protocol version: 2.1
Username and Password have been setup
Using AUTOFS did not work any which way I tried. Can anyone shed light as to why Enigma2 would work whereas AUTOFS didn't?

Re: Mounting NAS, ugh.
Strangely enough, I have the same NAS, but using a V2 and have no problem mounting with AUTOFS (and everything else similar to that described here). Go figure I guess. I did have to stuff around a bit with the SMB settings at the NAS end, I seem to recall (set minimum SMB = 2).
EDIT: Just checked...my T4 is also set up to mount the DS220+ shared folders using AUTOFS (in this case mount as needed), with no issues.

Re: Mounting NAS, ugh.
This solution did the trick with the new V2. It would not mount folders on the QNAP TS-431 NAS until I put in the setting: SMB protocol version: 2.1.
Thank you, TGG and Mr Quade.
As you say, TGG, bingo!
