U4 - Can't create a valid mount for the V2
Everytime I create a mount for the V2 on the U4, it seems as if it's successful, but when I go to File Commander and open up the V2 mount, it's empty. I rebooted the U4 but still no joy.
I created a U4 mount on the V2 with the exact same default settings in the Mounts Editor as above, with no problems.
The V2 has a usb drive connected (sd card slot is empty) and the default movie location is '/media/hdd/movie/'.
Am I doing something wrong, a known issue or is it busted?

Re: U4 - Can't create a valid mount for the V2
Can KATE-PC get to the "Movie" share of the V2?
Re: U4 - Can't create a valid mount for the V2
You mean like this?
I can see/play all V2 files from the pc (Kate-PC).

Re: U4 - Can't create a valid mount for the V2
Left field maybe but what happens if you try "guest" in the username field?

Re: U4 - Can't create a valid mount for the V2
I have no problem mounting the share from my U4 to my V2, but the only difference is that my V2's Movie share points to its SD card.
So it's not a problem between the two firmwares.
Maybe this is a problem with the V2's USB HDD spinning down before the U4 connects. Is the mount failing if the spinup takes more than a couple of seconds to become available? (and Windows is perhaps a bit more tolerant of that).

Yes.
Can you show us the contents of /etc/auto.network from the U4 please (mask user names/passwords if you wish), or at least the entry for BEYONWIZV2_Movie.
Re: U4 - Can't create a valid mount for the V2
I noticed in Auto.Network that the V2 entry does not have 'guest' as the user, even though it shows it in the Mounts Editor. I added it in (using notepad++), saved and then rebooted the U4. Went into File Commander, and all the mount have disappeared, yet they are still showing in the Mounts Editor (ignore the T4 as it's not powered up).
I removed 'guest' (in notepad), rebooted the U4 but the mounts are still missing in File Commander, but still show in the Mounts editor.

That matches your mount options pic - except for "user=guest". Can you try that, as Paul_oz53 suggested.
Anything standing out in /var/log/messages for "BEYONWIZV2_Movie" (192.168.1.128/Movie).
Re: U4 - Can't create a valid mount for the V2
Ignore my previous post. The mounts were active, but had become Unmounted (didn't see the little red x).
Re: U4 - Can't create a valid mount for the V2
The "Guest" username isn't required. The Wiz doesn't put it in when the mount is freshly created, but it will appear there if the mount is subsequently re-saved I think.

Re: U4 - Can't create a valid mount for the V2
You shouldn't edit the file whilst the GUI was running.
You should have stopped the GUI first - with command "init 4".
Then edit the file.
Then restarted the GUI with command - "init 3".
The mount editor takes its data from file /etc/enigma2/automounts.xml.
The mount operation uses /etc/auto.network.
Re: U4 - Can't create a valid mount for the V2
Fair enough. The mounts (PC & V2) are back, but still get nothing in the V2 using File Commander.Grumpy_Geoff wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 11:05

I delete the V2 mount, then go into the Network Browser. Open the V2 entry and get the 'enter username password' message. Choose no. The cursor comes up and stays on for about 30 seconds, then it displays the sub directories. Every other mount I've done shows the sub dirs straight away. Maybe something is happening (or not happening) in that 30 seconds. After that it proceeds through the Mount screens and appears to have created it successfully.MrQuade wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 10:39I have no problem mounting the share from my U4 to my V2, but the only difference is that my V2's Movie share points to its SD card.

Try changing its name from "BEYONWIZV2_Movie" to, say, "V2_Movie" and save, await the mount and popups, reboot the U4 and then try accessing it again.
If it doesn't work, then check /var/log/messages for "V2_Movie" (192.168.1.128/Movie).

I deleted the V2 mount, rebooted. Created the V2 mount (called V2), accessed the mount in File Commander - nothing listed. Rebooted - here's the log for that short period of time -

Re: U4 - Can't create a valid mount for the V2
I am so over this V2 box.
Shut down the V2. Unplugged the usb drive and inserted my 400GB SD card. Booted up. the 'Movie' folder is now showing on the sd card. Went to the U4, deleted the v2 mount, created another one (default name). Rebooted, but still nothing showing in the File Commander.
Of course, I wouldn't even have to go through this if the V2 could actually match the correct frame rates on 60fps files in the first place (in my other thread).
I think it's time to return this piece of junk.

You can get to the V2 from the PC, but not the U4.
As I previously suggested -

How it that going to help me watch files recorded on the V2, from the U4 (and no, transfering files to the pc first is not a solution)?Grumpy_Geoff wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 12:21You can get to the V2 from the PC, but not the U4.

Re: U4 - Can't create a valid mount for the V2
Noting that "guest" appears unnecessary, I note any inconsistency between auto.network and automounts.xml has been a problem in other cases. Obviously this needs to be resolved.
Another left field suggestion would be to remove ",vers=2.1". It should not make a difference but when all else fails...

The U4 is the issue. The U4 isn't mounting the V2's "Movie" share. Hence the need to see why. Viewing the U4's /var/log/messages file may show why.

Re: U4 - Can't create a valid mount for the V2
BTW: I think reason that Star6key can't access /var/log from his mount of the U4's root is that /var/log is a symbolic link to /var/volatile/log and the default in Samba is to not follow symbolic links.
The logs may be accessible from a Windows share of the PVR's file system root by going to /var/volatile/log instead of /var/log.
Enabling links can be done by setting unix extensions = yes, but Windows SMB clients may still not be able to follow Unix symbolic links.

Re: U4 - Can't create a valid mount for the V2
I know pretty much jack about share mounting from the command line, but one of the gurus might be able to assist -
mount -t cifs //192.168.1.128/Movie /media/{blah}/V2_Movie -o guest,{blah, blah, ...}
Or maybe you should try mounting with "fstab".
I dunno.

Re: U4 - Can't create a valid mount for the V2
Taking a look again at the automounter configuration file you posted in this post -
I'm not confident that there'll being no issues with local/remote share names having spaces (Local - "T4 unit", Remote - "My Movies").
I'm wondering if the automounter is giving up before even attempting to mount the V2's Movie share.
To that end, and straw clutching, please try this test on the U4 -
Open the Mounts editor screen (Mountpoints management) and delete/inactivate all share mounts apart from the V2's Movie share. Ensure that mount entry is named without a space (names like the default "BEYONWIZV2_Movie", or "V2_Movie" or "V2movie" will be fine).
See how you go with that.
Also, do you still have the T4 as there's a mount entry for it?
