[solved] Issue With Filezilla

Post by Hipster » Sat Mar 30, 2019 11:56

I have a U4. Been using filezilla to transfer files to my linux manjaro OS computer. It has been working flawlessly for months.

Couple of days ago we got hooked up to the nbn & now filezilla refuses to connect. I changed the password & tried again. No go.

I have followed this video. https://beyonwiz.com.au/forum/viewtopic ... f385fcc7a2 (Thanks for that. Very easy to follow.)

I have LAN hooked up. The U4 sees that connection.

Any clues on what to try next?

I'm guessing you got a new modem/router and the IP address of the U4 has changed.
Try connecting via name (beyonwizu4), else go to the U4 and grab it's IP address (MENU>>Information (or '?' U4 remote shortcut)>>Network and use that.
Does OpenWebif (http://beyonwizu4/) work?

I set a static ip on the u4. Maybe that's the issue?

As for openwebif that also does not work. "Unable to connect"

As for connecting via name. Not sure how to go about that.

It could be. You'd need to give more information before it's possible to be sure, especially the router's IP address & netmask and your U4's IP address and netmask. It would also be useful if you described exactly what you meant by "static ip", because that's commonly used on the forum for two completely different ways of ensuring that the device is always assigned the same network address (and one of them isn't actually a static IP address).

Use the name beyonwizu4 (or whatever you set in MENU>Setup>Network>Mount manager>Change hostname if you have changed that) instead of the numerical IP address.

Is it possible that your new router is assigning addresses in a different subnet to what you were using previously?

ie. You may have set up static addresses for 192.168.0.x in your old scheme, but the new router defaults to assigning 192.168.1.x addresses to your PC etc. That would leave the Wiz stuck in 192.168.0.x land as its address was set statically.

While I'm taking all of the above in I should also mention this.

After the nbn was connected I started filezilla & it connected to the u4. Started downloading a file & after 3-4 seconds it quit & the connection was refused. Now I can't get the connection back. Will see if there is a log with filezilla.

edit: Darn. Logging has to be set up by the user. (which it now is)

That's why I asked for device and router IP addresses and netmasks. But from the additional (other) information that Hipster posted, it doesn't appear to me to be a problem with the network part of the IP addresses. But it might be two devices with the same IP address, especially if the U4 really does have a fixed-in-the-device IP address (and not just a permanent DHCP association in the router), and the device's IP address is in the DHCP allocation range.

For the router the ip is 192.168.1.1. (LAN address) The subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.

On the u4 the ip is now 192.168.1.105. Subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.

By static I mean that I was the one who assigned the ip to the u4.

Would it be easier to hit a reset button on the u4? If it has an appropriate one.

This really is getting over my head.

What is the DHCP range that is set in your router?

Is it possible that another device also has 192.168.1.105?

In my opinion it is best to set a MAC address->IP address reservation in your router. Remove the static/fixed address from the U4 and reboot it. Perhaps reboot your router too.

Big thanks for all the help. Appreciate it.

Tried a new lan cable. Either the cable wasn't clicked in properly or it failed. Plugged in the new cable & away it went.

Cheers!
