How to share other folders on T3 with a Mac
How to share other folders on T3 with a Mac
Hi All
Under previous FW my T3 was sharing the root and the HDD "folders" in Finder on my iMac
After a FW upgrade to latest version, all I have access to is the Movies folder on the T3
I had created a couple of other folders (DVD, Home Movies) at the same level as the Movie folder
I would then transfer across files into those folders from the Mac from time to time
I've searched FAQs and this sub-forum, but can't seem to see a 'simple' solution
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: How to share other folders on T3 with a Mac
You need to connect to the T3's command line with ssh and from there, edit the Samba user config file to add your own shares.
The file you need to edit is:
/etc/samba/smb_user.conf
You then need to create your share definitions. From your description, they should look something like this:
You could also simply copy those folders to your "Movies" directory and just use the existing share to access them. (You could prefix the directories with a number so they sort to the top).

Code: Select all
[DVD]
comment = /hdd/DVD
path = /media/hdd/DVD
guest ok = yes
read only = no

Cheers, I think I'll just stick them in the Movies folder.
Why did this change in the FW?

Security. Having the whole filesystem of a Linux computer exposed to a network with no security barriers is a recipe for disaster.
