T2 Hanging Up

Post by slugahhh » Sun Sep 16, 2018 13:05

Hi,

I have had a T2 for approx one year and yesterday it started playing up while trying to do anything to do with the network. I have a T3 and T4 that I can watch from any one of these devices over the network. Now when I try and set up a network mount the T2 just sits there with the spinning wheel. It takes around 15-20 minutes to go to the next stage and so on. When I go into and "Devices" in the Info screen I eventually have to pull the power to reset. I have reset the network and also unplugged everything overnight still no good. Other functions seem normal. I tested my internet speed to see how the network is performing and that's ok 10.49 Mbps down 0.90 up. Any ideas?

Your Internet speed won't have any bearing on these delays.

The most likely cause for the network browser taking so long is if you have set up your subnet mask incorrectly.
When a network scan is kicked off, the Wiz will probe all IPs in its local subnet mask...the larger the subnet the longer it takes.
Normally your subnet mask will be 255.255.255.0 for a home network (254 possible addresses).
If you have accidentally st the subnet mask to 255.255.0.0 ( about 65000 addresses) or 255.0.0.0 (almost 17 million addresses), then the scan will take a VERY long time.

The delay on the "Devices" screen I am not so sure about...I don't think that performs any type of subnet scan. That may point at the issue being elsewhere perhaps.....but check subnets first.

Next obvious thing to do is to replace the network cable to the T2 with one known to work.
