2Gb File Size Limit

Post by BigSmile » Tue May 01, 2018 08:00

Is there a way to set the T4 to see movie files of a size larger than 2Gb please ? I'm connecting to a Synology NAS. Thank you.

The T4 has no problem seeing files larger than 2GB, so the problem may lie elsewhere.

Are you connecting to your NAS using DLNA? If so, then that is probably the issue.
Instead of DLNA, you should mount the NAS's shared directory(s) using SMB/CIFS or NFS instead.

OK, I am indeed using DNLA. But I've gotten into a mess with mounts, so I did a system restore. If I press "Media" on the remote, then "Location", I can still see my NAS, listed as Upnp, but if I go into I can see nothing listed....no folders, no files. So, thinking I'm not using that anyway, I go to Network settings, Mount Manager. I set it active, gave it a name, server IP I presume is the IP of the NAS, and Server Share I put as the network name of the NAS. But I go to Media / Location, and it says it doesn't exist.

I'm obviously doing something wrong in the setup....can you assist a little more please ?

Thank you.

'Server share' is the name of the specific share as defined on your NAS.

You possibly could also have buggered up definitions between the two files the mounts are stored in -
/etc/auto.network
/etc/enigma2/automounts.xml
The same entries should be in both. If there are discrepancies then likely that's an issue.

Thank you very much. I got there in the end. Eventually, the way I got it to work was probably the simplest solution I could have hoped for - browse network shares, select the 'volume1/video' folder, set to NFS and bazinga !

Anyways.....thank you !

I should perhaps add that I found rebooting the T4 between changes seemed to have a significantly positive effect. The 'Media/Location' options didn't always clear out, and I also found myself stuck with mounts that I couldn't delete. Reboots seemed to help.

Those locations are sort of like bookmarks and will hang about until you reboot. There is no need to delete or manage that list in any way, as they will dynamically change based on what locations are available and which ones you have recently accessed.
