D-Link DWA-131 Wireless-N Nano Adapter - can I use with my T4
D-Link DWA-131 Wireless-N Nano Adapter - can I use with my T4
Quick question. (For those following at home, i've given up using the other adapters I own).
I have the wiz brand USB adapter which is no longer reliable. Can I replace it with this D-Link one and will it enable the T4 to be wireless and connect to my network?
Thanks!!

I think the boys will need to know the part number.

That's ok, the part number in the title is enough to identify it.
The latest E1 revision It appears to use the RTL8192EU chipset.
https://wikidevi.com/wiki/D-Link_DWA-131_rev_E1
As does Revision C.
Revision B uses the RTL8192EU chipset.
All these are supported by drivers, so its a pretty good bet they'll work .
This is a list of the drivers that my T3 showed as being available.
Code: Select all
enigma2-plugin-drivers-network-usb-rtl8187 - 1.0-r2.2 - WiFi devices for Realtek 802.11a/bg chipsets.
enigma2-plugin-drivers-network-usb-rtl8192ce - 1.0-r0.7 - Single-Chip IEEE 802.11b/g/n 2T2R WLAN Controller with USB 2.0 Interface
enigma2-plugin-drivers-network-usb-rtl8192cu - 1.0-r4.7 - new universal rt18xxx kernel driver
enigma2-plugin-drivers-network-usb-rtl8192cu-rev2 - 1.0-r5.7 - rt8192cu Proprietary alternative kernel driver
enigma2-plugin-drivers-network-usb-rtl8192eu - 1.0-r0.7 - Single-Chip IEEE 802.11b/g/n 2T2R WLAN Controller with USB 2.0 Interface
enigma2-plugin-drivers-network-usb-rtl8812au - 1.0-r1.2 - WiFi devices for Realtek 8812AU/8821AU chipsets.
enigma2-plugin-drivers-network-usb-rtl8814au - 1.0-r1.2 - WiFi devices for Realtek 8814AU chipsets.
I this one isn't directly supported as far as I know, though it may be included in one of the other driver packages.

Re: D-Link DWA-131 Wireless-N Nano Adapter - can I use with my T4
Given your track record with using wireless adapters on the Wiz, why are you continuing to use them?
TP-Link T4U
ASUS USB-AC68
Beyonwiz adapter (RTL8192CU chipset)
Did I forget any others?
Why not use a wireless-to-ethernet bridge which bypasses using wireless on your T4, as it's wireless to the bridge and ethernet to the T4?
Such as the TP-LINK TL-WR802N that MrQuade identified - viewtopic.php?f=43&t=13504&p=180600#p180592
Have you recently tried the TP-LINK Archer T4U v3 again? Did you install the 'network-usb-rtl8822bu' driver plugin for it (the driver for the RTL8812BU chipset is not part of the base firmware yet).
I'd also load the "stable" 19.3.20190818 beta firmware - viewtopic.php?f=56&t=13422&start=200#p181151
Having said the above, Maindee is/was using a DWA-131 on a T2 - viewtopic.php?f=50&t=12141&p=162953#p160906
