U4 Factory reset with T4 Remote
U4 Factory reset with T4 Remote
I have a U4 with a T4 remote . The original remote failed and was replaced with a T4 remote. I have just performed a factory reset and when it displays the "Do you want to restore your settings?" the T4 remote is unresponsive, presumably one of those restorable settings is changing the remote to use the T4. Is there a way to reactivate the T4 remote as the default remote after a factory reset without a U4 remote? Thanks
Re: U4 Factory reset with T4 Remote
You should still be able to use the front panel buttons to navigate up and down and press OK.
Unfortunately, the U4 lacks a setting for "All supported" when it comes to the remote IR support, so making it respond to both a U4 and T4 remote on boot is a bit tricky.

Unfortunately the U4 only has a POWER button on the front panel.
OpenWebif isn't running at that point, either, so that's also no help.

Doh! Only just spotted that now!
Does a USB keyboard work at that point?

Re: U4 Factory reset with T4 Remote
It might. I'll check in the morning.
I was able to log into a U4 with ssh at that point, and that could be used for recovery, but I suspect that that will only work if you have SSH public keys set up on the device already.

Re: U4 Factory reset with T4 Remote
In the startup screens, the navigation keys and the OK button on a Beyonwiz-supplied USB wireless keyboard work just fine to restore settings.
ENTER works on the keyboard in place of OK, too, so even a normal USB computer keyboard should be enough to get the backed up settings loaded.

Re: U4 Factory reset with T4 Remote
The V2 remote uses the same code set as the U4 remote's default code set. However, it's not listed as available on the Beyonwiz web pages, either.
An alternative would be to get a Logictech Harmony 350 and set it up for the U4 codeset. You may be able to use it to control your whole setup, though it only supports a single activity, which makes it less suitable for complicated setups.

Re: U4 Factory reset with T4 Remote
I've moved sophielea's post in this topic to a new topic, V2 has become unusable because it didn't seem to have much to do with this (rather old) topic.
