Unable to download certain files over the network

Post by aujy » Sat Apr 12, 2014 21:54

Hi,

I can download almost all of my files off my P2 but get some with errors. Example below. How do I troubleshoot? TIA

Downloading Movie: Hawking...
Error, unable to download D:\!!PVR uncompressed\Movie_ Hawking 2014-03-02.ts.
getWizPnP STDOUT:SBS ONE: Movie: Hawking - Copy
getWizPnP STDERR:Use of uninitialized value $status in hash element at script/getWizPnP.pl line 2852.
Use of uninitialized value in warn at script/getWizPnP.pl line 2874.

Some more information would help.

Describe your network?
Where are you downloading to?
What version of getWizPnP?
Or are you using YARDWiz? Again which version?
What OS?
What firmware?
What files transfer without problem?

IIRC there was an issue with SBS recordings but I thought it had been fixed.
Cheers

Really, an SBS specific problem? That may be it. All the other files seem to download.

To answer your questions inline.

Describe your network? Power over ethernet to my wifi then wifi to my Surface Pro
Where are you downloading to? hard drive
What version of getWizPnP? Latest (downloaded just in case)
Or are you using YARDWiz? Again which version? Latest, see above
What OS? Win 8
What firmware? DP2 v7 - latest again
What files transfer without problem? pretty much anything except the SBS ones. Though I have never noticed this before. I downloaded Tour de France last year just fine.

Please don't just say latest for all the versions as sometimes people miss an update.

Fair enough. The machine is less than a month old so everything is downloaded in the last day or so.

YARDWiz 0.4.5 Beta2
P2 1.07 (or whatever version is with the 7 in it ie not the 1.05....)

That's a bit like saying:
I'm running Microsoft operating system (or whatever version is with the Win in it ie not the DOS....)
Be specific ;-)

Not that it's likely it will actually help to know that. You should be running 1.0x.351 where x is the same as whatever was shipped with the original unit.

Anyway, just in case the SBS recordings have some hidden international characters their file names, you may want to rename a recording on the Beyonwiz and see if that helps. It's a long shot, but without any detailed debug information, it's worth trying.

The SBS problem of hidden or strange characters did occur when using the old WizFx as the transfer software. Simple change the name in the BW and make sure you use clear to knock out all characters and rename. To the best of my knowledge and experience it was never a problem with Yardwiz.

There is specific code in getWizPnP to remove the troublesome characters.

Yes I know Peter that you solved the problem a long time ago. So I can't understand why the OP is having problems?

If I knew which version of getWizPnP was being used, I could look at the code that is causing the problem and offer some sort of opinion about what's happening (which may well be a getWizPnP bug).

If OP is using YARDWiz 0.4.5 Beta2 (and has not downloaded another version of getWizPnP separately), then it should be getWinzPnP 0.5.5 beta1.

Sorry about the delay getting back to you about this.

Does the recording play correctly on the Beyonwiz?

When you try to copy the recording, is the destination file D:\!!PVR uncompressed\Movie_ Hawking 2014-03-02.ts created? If it is, how much data is copied into it?

What happens if you try to copy the recording as a native Beyonwiz recording (i.e. not converting the recording into a single .ts file). Does it work correctly? If it doesn't, does the recording .tvwiz destination directory get created? If it does, what files are copied into it?

I've had a look at the code that's involved in the copy, and the only way that I can see that $status can be undefined when the copy completes and returns to the main program in getWizPnP is if the recording has no data files in it. The code should deal with this properly, but I want to check whether that is in fact the cause of the problem.
