Just wondering why the T3 is not USB 3 compatible for faster file transferring

I just transferred Births, Deaths And Marriages ABC1 15.05., 21:30 55:59 min. recorded last night using OpenWebif over a wired network connection to my PC - took 5 minutes for a 56 min program. I'm more than happy with that speed compared to the old DP series.

The T3 has eSATA instead.

Any experience with a USB3 to eSata adapter, so that you can plug in a USB3 hard drive to the eSata port. Actually there aren't too many external eSata hdd's around anymore. (unless you get a drive enclosure and pop a drive in). WD had one but not sure if it is still available.

Also I haven't tried it myself but I believe someone found it faster to use a ftp program rather than via the T3's menus.

Just academic musing... I have an eSata socket on my PC but no USB3 just like the T3...................
I can't pick any difference in download speed, via wired Ethernet, by FTP or via Web page. Around 1 minute to download for every 10 minutes of movie time, roughly... Must admit I would rather transfer this way than onto a USB stick or drive and then unplug and take into the computer room...<insert lazy Smilies>

I reckon that both the eSATA/USB3 adaptor option and the eSATA/eSATA connection options will be a no go.

In the converter scenario, the little box is expecting an eSATA slave (drive) and a USB3 host (PC), and it wouldn't know how to cope in the reverse direction.

Similarly for eSATA to eSATA. Both the T3 and PC/laptop are SATA controllers and will not talk to each-other.
