Upscaling Quality vs DP Series?

Post by MrQuade » Tue Mar 18, 2014 01:15

Quick question for those in the beta test.

How does the upscaling look in comparison to the DP series?
I refer of course to this thread from way back:
http://www.beyonwiz.com.au/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=3697

There is also mention in that thread about resolution "passthrough" as an option supported by other brands. peteru reckons it is a no-go feature due to non-compliant HDMI behaviour, and yet.......
Logitech Harmony Ultimate+Elite RCs
Beyonwiz T2/3/U4/V2, DP-S1 PVRs
Denon AVR-X3400h, LG OLED65C7T TV
QNAP TS-410 NAS, Centos File Server (Hosted under KVM)
Ubiquiti UniFi Managed LAN/WLAN, Draytek Vigor130/Asus RT-AC86U Internet
Pixel 4,5&6, iPad 3 Mobile Devices

Hopefully a lot better than the bob deinterlacing I believe the dp's had MrQuade  As Stephen Dawson said here a pass through mode is certainly possible with hdmi ; one reason I have a 2400.

That said I have high hopes for the t3 as I noticed it has motion adaptive deinterlacing rather than simple bob :D

Yes, the T3 has much better picture quality than the DP series.

The T3 also has various autoresolution settings that allow you to configure behaviour for various modes.

I run without autoresolution, because the time it takes to do a HDMI resync makes it annoying for flicking through TV channels. If my primary T3 use was for media playback of movies, or if all the TV channels were 1080i, then it may be another story, since HDMI resyncs would be rare.

Exactly the same reason why I never used autoresolution on my Topfield TF7000 when I had it.

I have ordered a pair of T3s on the wight of this thread, so I am already comitted anyway.

Fantastic to see the comprehensive list of custom resolutions there.

Has anyone been able to determine if the "<xxx>p24" modes produce a true 23.976Hz framerate?
