Deleting a timer from EPG

Post by pvogel » Mon Oct 22, 2007 09:13

With a P1 and latest f/w, I can't see how to remove a timer from the EPG.

Delete it from the Timer List and it'll disappear from the EPG.

So it really isn't possible to do it from the EPG?

I'm not aware that you can at the moment. If you think about it, your timers may not align with EPG programs as frequently you pad the timers at both ends. This causes a timer to extend into the programs before and after the one you intended to record. Even if BW provides this functionality, it would require making some assumptions and clever logic in guessing which timer you actually wish to delete, especially when the TV stations change the program times.

I do admit it would be attractive if you have a timer that record multiple consecutive shows on a channel, and you want to delete one show. But again, some clever logic would be required on how to retain the remaining shows, and you may still need to go into the Timers List to incl. padding ... unless auto-padding is implemented.

Yes you're right, I was assuming soft padding which this PVR doesn't have yet.

Thanks,

On the latest firmware you can press the record button on the timer in question (if the show is highlighted in red) and it will bring up the time details, you can then press the green button on the remote to delete the timer (it should be listed as such at the bottom of the screen).

Hmm, so you can! I never noticed that the help text for the green button changes when you press record on a timer in the guide. I've been pressing popup, ok, and then green to delete it.

But pressing record and then green is one button quicker...
cheers
