Network Configureation

Post by dham » Sat Jun 16, 2007 18:27

I just baught a DP-S1 yesterday and STB and DVD are working fine. I can now retire my old STB (only 7 months old) and the DVD player.
Any way I have no luck with hooking it up to my laptop yet, I am pretty sure I got something wrong.

I hooked up my laptop to BW using the Ethenet cable came with it (I assume it is the crossover cable) and did the set up as the guide. Well guide actually doesn't say much.
On BW I had DHCP disabled and following
IP Address - 192.168.000.100
Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.000
Gateway - 192.168.000.001
Primary DNS - 192.168.000.001

I changed my laptop to
IPAddress -192.168.000.200
Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.000
Gateway - 192.168.000.001
Primary DNS - 192.168.000.001

If I ping 192.168.000.100 it finds the BW but when I goto to Fileplay and select network then scan, it doesn't find anything. Infact Scan stopr agter 49%. If I use Find PC (green) and enter the IP address of the laptop it can't find either.

What am I doing wrong? Any help would be appriciated.

Cheers

Make sure you have file sharing setup properly.
What OS your using will also affect your ability to share files

Check the Networking threads in relation to shares.

Hopefully thats all the problem is.

Hi Dham,

Is the notebook correctly configured for networking? Is file sharing enabled and is there a directory being shared? Have you followed the instructions regarding enabling the Guest account and enabling Guest network access?

Regards,
Ian.
