strange recordings on file play

Post by LPLATES » Sun Jun 12, 2011 20:58

Hi All, I had recorded some programs on icetv tonight, but when i went into file play to play them back i had some wierd listings. An example is 10.45pm 34seconds one hd,then 10.45pm 4 secs go.10.44 14secs ch 72. 10.42 14secs ch nine. This goes on for many listings occasionally interspersed with proper recorded programs.During this whole process tonight my recordings for tonight havent fired.I have a dpp1 running the latest firmware.Hope you can help. thanks

They are saved time shift buffers, These can happen if a timer recording starts while the Wiz is still in time shift mode and either no spare tuner is available or the timer is for the same service or channel.

Probably, but that doesn't explain the missed timer recordings.

Hi Lplates,

I suggest you restart the Beyonwiz, delete all the bogus recording files, run a manual disk check and then perform a re-index. Restart the Beyonwiz again and then check the Timer List and ensure that all the timers you expect are present. This should leave the Beyonwiz is a known state. Now check that it is performing recordings correctly.

If anything doesn't work as expected then please document the problem and report back.

Regards,
Ian.

True. But I wasn't trying to. One thing at a time, plus it is the one in the title. :D

Thanks Ian, I have done the manual hard drive check, but i dont know what you mean by reindexing or how to do it.As it stands i have five timers that are set on the icetv page due to be recorded this thursday and friday, but they are not appearing on the wiz timer list to be recorded this thursday and friday. If your solution does not work should i then be calling icetv.

The FilePlayer uses files that contain the details of the recordings on the Beyonwiz, rather than extracting that information from the recordings themselves (the index file for WizPnP is also derived from these files). Sometimes these files get out of kilter with what recordings you actually have.

To regenerate the files (re-index), go to FilePlayer>HDD, and press the SOUNDTRACK button (bottom right on the remote with a speaker+question mark icon).

And if you are not getting timers created - have you checked your network settings and connection?

Have you looked at the IceTV settings on the Wiz and checked the messages on that page?

Yes, a dialog box should appear.

You say you are running the latest firmware, what version number is it?

You need to actually enter the HDD part of the player by selecting the HDD from the list on the left, then press OK, then press SOUNDTRACK.

You haven't responded to my post about IceTV.

It makes it harder for us to help you.

If the timers are getting to the Beyonwiz soon enough and not running, the problem is more likely a Beyonwiz problem than an IceTV problem. Do the timers remain in the timer list after their end time and need to be deleted manually?
LPLATES wrote:or not showing in the timer list for upcoming recordings. ...
That's more an IceTV or IceTV/Beyonwiz interaction problem. When this happens, do the icons on your IceTV My Upcoming Shows Web Page stay as the "hollow donuts" for "queued recordings", or do they change state to the solid donuts indicating scheduled recordings? You have to look at the Web page for this, not the IceTV widget, because the Widget (for reasons I've never been able to fathom) doesn't distinguish between queued and scheduled recordings.

And what Gully asked about what's showing in the IceTV status window on your Beyonwiz.

What you've described sounds a bit like what Barry Farrell has described over in the IceTV forum. He doesn't seem to be making much progress with the problem, either.

Thanks heaps guys for your inputs. All appears ok again,I have done a little of what different people have advised, and at the end of the day i spoke to icetv and there suggestion was to do a factory reset.I have now done that and resent all the timers and things seem ok.

Seems to me an issue with duplicate lcns ,favorites on the BW & a failure to set up the ICETV lcn list via the web ? Ice TV only sends out from that list on your account .My IceTv experience has been fantastic .
