Whats new in F/W .05.302
After a month I finally have by B/W returned from DPG & its F/W has been updated to version .05.302. So far I can see no obvious changes in screens or performance. Does anyone know what's new?
Thanks in advance

Re: Whats new in F/W .05.302
It was a beta firmware. It has much improved DVD playback stability, however trick mode during DVD playback is broken. Here is the beta summary for it:Phototaker wrote:After a month I finally have by B/W returned from DPG & its F/W has been updated to version .05.302. New bugs relating only to this firmware:
B1. Disc playback issues, as follows:
(a) (for DVD) using OK to bring up the progress bar breaks the use of jump trick mode and Pop-up menu, giving "Action not supported" error messages. Using the LIST button to go the menu and then resuming playback will temporarily re-enable these functions again. (Fixed for next beta)
(b) (for DVD) jump trick mode jumps to seemingly random positions of the disc. (Fixed for next beta)
(c) (for CD) many discs return an error message of "No Disc Present" or "Unsupported Format".
My guess is their thinking is a quick temporary fix for a customer and then in a few days/weeks/months release the hopefully cleaned up beta. In other words I think they were trying to do you a favour. I think it is commendable and it's a pity more companies don't think more of their customers. I don't see SONY, Samsung or LG being so responsive. But then I'm a half glass full type of person...

You're kidding surely. The 301 firmware breaks every H1 trying to use WizPNP in early June and in November the rest of us still don't have firmware with the fix in it.netmask wrote:My guess is their thinking is a quick temporary fix for a customer and then in a few days/weeks/months release the hopefully cleaned up beta. Good grief..netmask wrote:But then I'm a half glass full type of person...
I thought he was discussing the .302 f/w that turned up as if by magic on the returned beastie?bruce wrote: You're kidding surely. The 301 firmware breaks every H1 trying to use WizPNP in early June and in November the rest of us still don't have firmware with the fix in it.

Thank you. Exactly right. 301 breaks my H1 in June and in November they still haven't made public 302 which supposedly fixes the WizPNP problem. Yet they *do* make it available on a serviced machine. And somehow this is my fault for not being a "glass half full" type of I dare say not. Sheesh.grampus wrote:I thought he was discussing the .302 f/w that turned up as if by magic on the returned beastie?
So have you rung them up and asked for it? If it matters that much ...bruce wrote: Thank you. There is no 302 H1 firmware, or P1 or P2. The .302 wrp file was only provided for the DP-S1 (even though DP-P2s have come from the factory with .302 installed). DP-P2s also came with .304 installed, but it was never provided as a wrp file either.bruce wrote:Thank you. Then 305 and 306 were provided as wrp files, but for the S1, P1 and H1 only.
Later, 308 and then 309 were provided for all DP-xx models (and 017 and 018 respectively for FV-L1s and late model DP-P2s).
cheers

There is one thing that I have noticed about this F/W but I don't know if it's unique to this version or not. If I go to the listing of recorded programs it say in left hand corner that I have 252.3GB free space. If I delete a program this figure remains the same. I thought that this figure might be recalculated after the machine reboots but this doesn't alter the figure either. Has it always been this way?
Thanks in advance

I think if you wait a while, the recalculation is done.Phototaker wrote:There is one thing that I have noticed about this F/W but I don't know if it's unique to this version or not. Only in the order of a minute or so.

Well, err, no actually. I have asked before about getting beta firmware but I didn't realise that the beta group shipments were done directly from the lab or that the local people were so friendly and helpful over the phone. Kudos to them.grl wrote:So have you rung them up and asked for it? If it matters that much ...
