Footy with the judders

Post by bomber » Mon Jun 22, 2009 16:05

Can anyone help ?
Have DP-P2 hooked up to Onkyo 605 then to Pana 50" PZ800A thru hdmi. Noticed last weekend on both SC10 and Prime that whilst watching footy , the picture seemed juddery. A mate also commented that it was unwatchable. Unfortunately this has been the case on previous occasions but I thought it might go away. It actually makes me feel dizzy (without drinking !!).
Picture was fine when we switched to TV tuner. If anyone was going to ask, yes, IFC is turned off on Pana.
If I need to provide more info please tell me. Thanks.

Ensure you have the Wiz set to PAL/50Hz output, not NTSC/60Hz.

Often all those motion flow/etc parameters in your TV are input dependant, and so often you will find the internal tuner is set to different params than what your HDMI input is set to out of the box, and so you may need to fiddle to get the two matched to be how you want them to be.

Thanks . Will try this weekend.
Any hints for Austar PQ improvement with footy through channel 950. Have Austar connected by S- Video to DP-P2, and honestly, composite to TV is 1000% better. Freo/Geelong last night was a coloured blocky blur !!

Is the Onkyo doing any upscaling/picture enhancements or straight passthrough?
3TB T3 on 4.4.20160729FW
DP-P1 on .320FW & life support...

Why will you try this weekend? DVB-T terrestrial transmissions in Australia are 50Hz. If you have the Wiz set to 60Hz, this is the wrong setting, and the Wiz can't pluck an extra 10Hz out of nowhere, it has to make up frames to turn 50 into 60 and this is what causes judder. You should always be running 50Hz, not just during the footy. The only time you might ponder swapping to 60Hz is for media files that you know are encoded as 60Hz.
