DP-P1 connection LAN on modern modem

Post by diode1961 » Tue Apr 07, 2020 14:44

My DP-P1 connection LAN on modern modem doesn't seem to want to connect to the net, I know it's a long shot being such an old unit but I thought I would give it a try, can anyone help me with the settings please?

How is the DP-P2 connected to your modem/router? Do you know what model of modem/router you are using? How do you know that the DP-P1 isn't connecting to the network (i.e. what doesn't work that you'd expect to)?

In SETUP>Network>setting, press OK on Network Device, and select LAN. Select Enable on DHCP. Everything else should be filled in automatically from your router. That should work in 90+% of home network setups where you have the DP-P2 connected by wired Ethernet to your modem/router.

Is it getting an IP address from your router? (using DHCP)

What information are you trying to get from the net? Are you connecting to IceTV?

Note that the WizTV features are no longer available.

Like others I wonder if you have enabled LAN and turned on DHCP via the setup menu. If so, that should automatically populate the rest of the setup data.

Apart from IceTV, you may want to access shared folders on a Windows PC. If so, you will need to ensure SMB version 1.0 is enabled the PC and fill in the Windows Sharing details on the P1.Windows 10 turns SMB 1.0 off.

This is about all a P1 can do on the Internet.
