Error 0001

MY unit has started to display Error 001 when turning on. It used to just take a few goes but now I am unable to get it to turn on. Any suggestions?

Hi, Northy19 , welcome to the forum.

ERROR 0001 is "System boot failure. The boot loader initiated the boot up process but the next stage has not communicated with the Micom within 30 seconds." (The Micom is the microcomputer in the front panel that sequences startup and controls the display and front panel buttons.)

There's likely a problem with the device's flash memory and/or its power supply. It will most likely need repair, either by Beyonwiz or by someone like forum user Warkus (Mark Vasile, http://www.decisivecomputersolutions.co ... ntact.html).

Warkus will often do board exchange repairs if you are confident about replacing the board yourself. He can send you the replacement, and let you to return the faulty board. I've done a DP-S1 repair this way with Warkus, and I was fery happy with his service. You can find a compendium of testimonials on the forum in Warkus is a Legend!! (aka Mark).

Warkus has also posted detailed DIY instructions for component-level power supply repairs on the forum if you have the capability or interest in trying the repair yourself (if it is only the power supply that is at fault).

How long have you been operating it like that? This means it has been running with out of spec power for some time now, and there is a chance that could have caused more damage in that time.
Just for future reference, if you start seeing this sort of problem in electronic equipment, it is best to jump on it right away rather than continue operating it.

Thanks for that. It only happened for a few days before we just decided to leave it off until we found out what the issue was.

"Off" (in standby) is not sufficient. To be safe, physically unplug from the power socket until it is repaired.
