DP-P2 lite not recognised by new LG TV

Post by Chask » Fri Jun 08, 2018 06:02

We have had a DP-P2 connected to a Samsung TV for the last 4 years. Has worked flawlessly.

Now replaced the Samsung with an LG 4K TV, and it will not recognise the Wiz.

Have connected a Humax and that works fine.

Also tried all HDMI ports on the tv and even tried connecting via Component. Nothing works.

Is there any Technical reason why a 4K TV wouldn’t recognise the Wiz, bearing in mind it’s age.

You might want to disable HDR mode on whichever TV input that you are connecting the DP-P2 to. The TV should have some sort of options for disabling HDR on a per-input basis.

HDR mode requires extra features that are incompatible with older HDMI devices. For example, with my T3 PVR and my Samsung VCR, I only loose audio if I have HDR mode enabled, but video still works.

Good idea, but why doesn't Component work?

Thanks, that could be a solution, however after scrolling through some of the other posts on here, I suspect that it may be that the Tv doesn’t properly recognise the Auto option on the resolutions output. Another poster had a similar problem and manually set the resolution to 1080 and that fixed things. I need to reconnect the Wiz to another TV so I can do that. Just rotating through the “TV out” options and the TV briefly sees the 480 and 570, but then disconnects. Doesn’t seem to see the 1080. Will try resetting it manually when I can reconnect to another tv. Thanks again. Wil, report back.

Good point, I missed that comment, and don't know! :)

It would be good to know if the component output was known to be in good working order too I guess.

Pleased to report that I have now fixed the issue of the LG not recognising the Wiz.

It was, as someone else had identified in another post, because the LG could not tune in to the output resolution on the Wiz when it was set to “Auto”. I connected it to another TV and then manually set the output resolution to 1080, then reconnected to the LG and Bingo!, works perfectly.

Thanks for the HDR suggestion, didn’t actually try that as I was pretty confident that it was a resolution issue.

Cheers, Chas

Ahh good thinking. I remember the discussion now, but no idea where that post was. Good stuff!

I too had this issue of my DP-P2 working fine on Samsung TVs but not recognised on my new LG C9 55inch OLED. Hooked the P2 back up to the Samsung, cabbed the Av output from auto to 1080 and reattached it to the LG...bingo! All good. Thanks Guys. :D
