DP-P1 errors

Post by SteveFromOz » Sun Jun 18, 2017 15:45

Hi all,

I have a DP-P1 which is freezing during playback on some recordings. Power supply was repaired and upgraded not so long back by Warkus so I don't think that is the issue.

Is this likely to be an HDD issue? HDD formats ok in the unit with no errors.

If I need a new HDD, is it still possible to buy IDE HDD drives?

Regards,

Steve

I think you would have a hard time finding an IDE drive but there are IDE to SATA converters you can use that fit between the drive and the motherboard cable.

Have a search in the forum for recommendations.

If you get stuck for a drive and are happy with using a not very large second hand drive, I have a collection of 160GB IDE HDDs. Hitachi CinemaStar and DeskStar and Samsung SV1604E. You can have one or two of these if you send me a self-addressed, pre-paid satchel. I'll bubble wrap them and box them, so a 5kg large Australia Post satchel is probably best. Send me a PM if you are interested.

What firmware are you using?
Is this issue limited to recordings from the same type of services, e.g. on all MPEG-4 services?

Firmware 1.07.07. It also could be corrupted files, apparently if the file is not recorded properly it can cause corruption without showing any errors. I do have an interference issue which can cause the above, getting a new antenna installed as I write this, hopefully that will resolve the issue. I have dug up an old 500Gb IDE drive I removed from my PC, a bit slow in the PC but has almost the same rating as the one in the DP-P1 except 8Mb cache instead of 16Mb.

Firmware 1.07.07.

Are you sure about the firmware version? I don't have a good log of DP-P1 firmware releases because I never had one, but I don't think there was a firmware version 1.07.07 for anything.

This is the special provided to handle the newer mpeg4 broadcasts.

Typo - that'd be 01.07.070; the 'P1 special' provided by warkus.
