i was thinking that a series link button would be ideal as that means having the complete series taped and ready to go as well as having the option to manually set the timer too.

That is likely to come with any Freeview EPG models but then you will also get all the Freeview restrictions and limits.

Of course, IceTV provides series recording already for all models.

couldn't something be implimented into beyonwiz (IE, 'beyonwiz EPG' scanning and finding show title and asking and confirming show recording.)

IE Beyonwiz scans for show title and asks user to confirm each instance of show recording.

Example, say show was on three times a week and two showings were repeats then user can confirm which show(s) to record instead of entering in manually each show to record.

'Record Series' is already on the wish list as W4(d). I don't see it being necessary to ask the user about every instance of recording. If there is a timer conflict at the time of creation, then pop up the conflict window and resolve it on the spot. Maybe you could add the 'First runs only' or 'All screenings' options like Ice does, but that's about all that would be needed.
