Remote Control and documented API

If its not already there (and I missed it somewhere), having the ability to control the box via a simple commands from an external PC or other hardware would be excellent.

There are more and more automation systems cropping up out there and more people are putting them in their houses. I would like to see the ability to control the box via these systems (over Ethernet of course).

Coms needs to be two way, so we can get information back, such as shows on the hard drive, current channel, timer settings etc., as well as being able to fully control the box.

Since this is a media center as well as a PVR, the external control has many advantages when used this way as well.

This needs to be done without software sitting in the middle

Just my hope for the future
